A gallery bridge across the river
Jishou Art Museum

We have seen a lot of museums or galleries, which are in a corner, such as the beautiful woman’s death and independence, they become a striking symbol of the city rather than integrated into it. Jishou Art Museum, on the other hand, integrates itself into the texture of the city, turning itself into a bridge and carrying pedestrians.

Overview of Jishou Art Museum
The bridge head on both sides is closely connected with the row houses along Wanrong River. These row houses include shops, restaurants and small hotels, and the upstairs are usually the homes of the owners. Therefore, the entrance of Jishou Art Museum on both sides of the river can be regarded as part of the street, thus integrating into the daily life of the local people.

The Corridor Bridge, known as Wind-Rain Bridge, has a long history in the mountainous areas of China. Besides the function of crossing rivers or valleys, they are also public spaces for travelers to rest and vendors to sell. The designer combines the gallery bridge with the art gallery, and modernizes the formal language of the Wind and Rain Bridge so that people who cross the bridge can enjoy the art on their journey.

The gallery is made up of bridges on bridges. The lower steel bridge is an open truss structure, which provides a roofed street for pedestrians to pass through, and also helps to dredge the flood. The upper cast-in-situ concrete arch bridge has a gallery inside.
